What People Are Saying

I came alone which I was nervous about but I was able to really enjoy the talk with loads of new people and it was a great atmosphere.

A Moving Mind

As a speaker, Moving Minds is an absolute gift because everyone is onside. Everyone wants to hear what you’re saying and it’s an absolute SLAM DUNK!

Peter Gilchrist - Speaker

The talk really made us open our eyes to new perspectives and ways we can incorporate what they talked about into our own lives.

    1st Sept, 7:00-9:00PM

Speaker: Kristin Hay, Lecturer in Economic and Social History

During the so-called Swinging Sixties, in between the explosion of Beatlemania and the mini skirt, a revolution occurred: the introduction of the oral contraceptive pill and the growing availability of birth control seemingly created a new era of sexual freedom and gender equality. But how revolutionary was the Sexual Revolution? How much sex was had in the era of ‘sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll’?

Join historian Kristin Hay for a whistle-stop tour of the history of sex, gender and birth control in Scotland, exploring the lived experiences of men and women who lived through this transformative time and questioning the myth and the reality of sexual revolution.

  • The Secret Life Of Faces

    DUNDEE

    8th Sept, 7:00-9:00PM

Speaker: Dr Tobias Houlton, Craniofacial Anthropologist and Forensic Imaging Specialist

Faces shape our first impressions, help us recognise loved ones, and can even unlock stories from hundreds or thousands of years ago. But how much can science really learn from a face – or even a skull?

Drawing on experiences ranging from forensic investigations in South Africa to reconstructing the world's first facial estimate of a shrunken head and helping restore the identities of people from the distant past, Dr Tobias Houlton explores the remarkable science behind human faces. Along the way, audiences will discover how our brains recognise faces, why they sometimes get it spectacularly wrong, and how forensic science helps reveal the extraordinary stories hidden beneath the surface.

  • If Women Ran the World, Would We Have Solved Climate Change?

    Edinburgh

Speaker: Victoria Plutshack, Climate, Energy & Gender Scholar

Summer 2026 is on track to be the UK’s hottest on record. The highlands are on fire. In August, over 70% of England was in a drought. There is obviously an urgent need for action to tackle the climate crisis, but who will save us? Join us as we dissect decades of evidence that suggest that women have a key role to play, as they report caring more about the planet, are better at sorting their recycling, and vote for greener, cleaner policies.

But it’s not as simple as all that. Find out how changing attitudes to gender have impacted efforts to solve the climate crisis, learn how oil and gas companies are trading on male insecurities, and discover what all of us can do about it now that the fires are closing in around us.
